April 27, 2018 there was a roundtable discussion devoted to the address of the President N. Nazarbayev on the presentation of the project “New humanitarian knowledge. 100 new books on the Kazakh language” and anniversary of the Program “Modernization of Identity”.

The attendants of the event were represented by a deputy of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, members of research and expert council of the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan, representatives of Associations of the department by ethno cultural unions, and interested readers.

The first of the speakers were the deputy of Mazhilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gennadiy Shipovskikh who accentuated on importance of the project “New humanitarian knowledger. 100 new books on the Kazakh language”. The speaker noted that we and world around us should change. There are a lot of important books on philosophy, mediaethics, industrial revolution etc., and further such books will allow to make a positive contribution to youth that approaches Kazakhstan to achievement of the goal to enter the list of 30 most developed countries highlighted by the President of Kazakhstan. The success will be achieved only in case if our citizens will be highly educated people. Because of this the books will allow us to achieve high results, upgrade indexes on socio-economic development.

The greeting speech were also made by the head of the project at the National bureau of translation Kisybayi Alibek. In accordance to his opinion the modernization directly connected with humanitarian knowledge, and education of students on political science, sociology, philosophy, economics, anthropology, philology, pedagogics, etc. Because of this the project on translation of 100 books to the Kazakh language is unique and important to the whole educational sphere of the country – it should significantly the whole level of education in the Kazakh universities, permitting to upgrade them to the global level.

Moreover, the project should cause influence on development of the Kazakh language, enriching its scientific style: during the last year the scientific vocabulary were enriched by 3 thousands items. It also gives impulse to the development of translation school in Kazakhstan and permits to actively engage to international translators. Besides the projects involves masters and doctorate students from corresponding academic areas.

The head of the National bureau on translation informed the attendants that at the present moment the translated 18 new books were given to the higher educational institutions. From September 1st 2018 the books will be included into curriculums. Also 30 new books are in the process of translation.

The deputy head of the National academic library of Kazakhstan Aliya Kozhabekova noted that the place of event were chosen deliberately to provide the promotion of the books, access for the students, researchers and scholars. The book reserve of the Academic Library is open for access not only for Kazakh auditoria but also the readers from all round the world. Moreover, up to 2020 the whole library fund of Kazakhstan will be digitalized and placed within the electronic resources. The Library will provide access to the information and support all of the research projects of the scholars in Kazakhstan. Because of this there is an opportunity to digitalize new books.

The head of the Uzbek ethno-cultural association Sherzod Pulatov told that the Assembly created the dialogue session where the scholars and experts were discussing the issues related to the translated books. Recently the new movement were created called “Modernization way” where the youth of the Assembly united to promote the project on the Program “Modernization of Identity”. In social networks the discussions on the translation of 100 books are marked by #okudym. The project will permit to develop people in the country to make impact in consolidation of peace and mutual understanding. The discussion of the books actively included other ethno-cultural association of Kazakhstan.

The professor Anatolyi Bashmakov, the head of the department of the Assembly of the people in Kazakhstan at Gymilyov Eurasian National University cited Albert Einstein who said that it is easier to split the atom rather than change the human identity. The work on modernization of identity is not a single moment event, it presumes the tenths of years and the project “New humanitarian knowledge” has an important role within the Program. Today the considerable role is given to the socialization of the youth, formulation the civic position among the young people in schools and universities. The book is the most important tool that helps to shape the identity of young people through the education and development of the belief in the People and historical memory.

Bashmakov A.A. noted that the newly translated books besides the significant use to the educational area will become the new stimuli of studying the Kazakh language. In accordance to his opinion, the books chosen for translation could not be obtained in Russian or any other language for free. The project proposed by the President “New humanitarian knowledge. 100 new books on the Kazakh language” gives the opportunity to all Kazakh speaking people to read these books for free. The scholar emphasized that the Institute for Eurasian integration conducts an important work within the Program. It is important that the sociological measurements and research by Institute as well as their implications provide an important information.

In accordance to the Deputy Head of the Institute for Eurasian integration, Natalia Kalashnikova, the analysis of the surveys conducted by the Institute demonstrate that there is a high level of support of modernization processes implemented by the Government. In particular, there is broad support among the population regarding the Program “Modernization of Identity”. The speaker emphasized the attention on importance of participation by youth in modernization of identity. Because of this the Project on 100 new books is of special importance. The project is an important part of the presidential vision in educational and scholarly areas permitting to “implement the five-year plan in education”.

The speaker also noted on the role and responsibility of professors and experts in integration of translated books into the educational process. The latter presupposes a preparation of corresponding methodologies for education. Addressing the National Bureau of translations the speaker emphasized on necessity to develop the methodological recommendation for teachers, libraries. The methodical manuals should preserve the essence of translated publications taking into consideration the national features.

The Head of the department at the Academy under the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan Tleygali Burbayev recommended to follow the dialectics of digitalization and humanization with particular preservation, development and modernization of humanitarian departments, because the humanitarian education formulated identity of the citizens.

Amangeldy Kashkimbayev the deputy director of the Institute on history of the state under the Ministry of Education recommended to work on mechanisms of provision of availability of the new books for all student, master and doctorate students, as well as readers of libraries. A. Kisybayi replied that during the two weeks the electronic versions of the books will be available online and print versions will be widely accessible. The particular attention will be given to the copyrights and authorship.

The professor of Kazakh filial of M. Lompnosov MSU and Kokshetau state university PhD Nursulu Shaimerdenova proposed to prepare the informational publication about translators who took part in the project. At the present moment there is a demand on creation of base on three language speaking translators in Kazakhstan and abroad. The base also should include data on young translators who have a potential to undertake such projects. The books will be issued further. It is necessary to provide with necessary information about the author and explanation on choice of the book for translation.

The special attention is given to public lectures and master-classes for translators participating in the current project. This idea was supported by the department head of Eurasian research, professor of the Gymilev Eurasian National University Nurbek Shayakhmetov. Besides, there is another part of the project that presupposes an acquaintance of the global community with Kazakh culture. Because of this there is considerable demand in translation of Kazakh books onto the English language.

The speech of Nursulu Shaimerdenova were ended by the quote of Claude Lévi-Strauss: “XXI century will be a century of humanitarian sciences – or it never will be”.

The speakers of the roundtable discussion that include the famous scholars and public activists shared their developments in realization of the Program “Modernization of Identity”, perspectives on realization of all six national projects and especially “New humanitarian knowledge. 100 new books on the Kazakh language” directed on modernization of identity of all youth. The participants of the roundtable discussion considered the ideas of sociocultural developments and language areas in universities and society.

One of the significant practical recommendations of the event became the idea of development of methodological manuals for instructors and librarians on promotion of 100 new books, on integration into education process as well as organization of work with interested auditoria.

It planned to generalized the materials of speakers and direct them to the National bureau of translation for inclusion into further common work.
